These images are from CAD models created using SolidWorks and the OEM drawings. The part is the port-side ruddervator mount for the refueling boom on a KC-135. The forging model was done first from the forging drawing, then modified to represent the machined, finished part, which was imported into MasterCam for CNC programming. Final operations included splined holes for special fasteners, surface treatment prior to zinc-chromate primer and final paint, and insertion and roll-staking of the inboard and outboard bearings.
